Innovative ideas showered with awards
The “8th Young Minds, New Ideas Project Market and Graduation Projects” has been held at Izmir University of Economics with the participation of 271 projects from 14 departments of 11 universities and a large crowd of sectorial representatives. Izmir University of Economics (IUE) has been crowned with complete success with its future entrepreneurial engineers, and collected 5 out of 7 awards in different categories at the contest.
Mesut Nafiz Şimşek came in first place with his “Eye of the Blind” titled project in the category of “Opinion Contest” at the contest coordinated by Turkish Informatics Association Izmir Branch and sponsored by Chamber of Computer Engineers of Turkey. İnan Evin and Bekir Batuhan Bakır, students of IUE Department of Software Engineering, came in first place with their “Lina Game Engine” titled project led by Asst. Prof. Kaya Oğuz in the category of Entertainment, Education, Social Media, and Communication.
The third prize, in the category of Industry, went to Selçuk Sarı, student of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Mustafa Can Bağdiken, student of Department of Software Engineering, for their “AT-1000” titled interdisciplinary project led by IUE Rector, Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar. Department of Software Engineering students, İpek Tekin, Nesibe Ürün Efe, Burkay Yıldırım, and Sude Selin received the BMDD Law in Informatics Special Award with their Kuşdemir “The Smart Translator Glasses” project led by Assoc. Prof. Senem Kumova Metin. Utku Duman, Emin Uğur Dalkılıç, Ata Murat Erinmezler, students of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Yiğit Aybey, student of Department of Computer Engineering, qualified for Eon Academy The Boss of the Future Award with their “Farm 4.0” titled interdisciplinary project led by Asst. Prof. Raheleh Eslampanah.
IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar stated that students’ projects based on their imaginations, added more value to the country and to our city. The Rector said, “Our entrepreneurial nature come into view with student projects. We once again proved that we raise entrepreneurial, innovative young people. We engage in scientific studies that will bring value to Izmir with the dynamic and success-oriented nature of our university. We will continue to bring success to our university and to our city with our entrepreneurial nature.”
