IUE professors are on the "World List"
Two professors from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) entered the list of “Most Influential Scientists of the World” created by a research team led by Dr. John Ioannidis from Stanford University, USA. Having developed many projects in the international arena, whose articles are published in the world’s most prestigious journals and qualified to obtain patents with their innovative works, IUE Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Faculty Members Prof. Levent Eren and Prof. Türker İnce made Turkey proud by ranking in the list.
857 people from Turkey were selected to the list created by the research team, consisting of US and Dutch scientists, as a result of an assessment made among millions of academics worldwide. The international team created the list based on citation numbers, H-index values that measure the cumulative impact of an author's scholarly output and performance and publications to citations, co-authorship, and career-long impact factors of scientists.
INTERNATIONAL PATENTS
Prof. Eren works on the development of innovative and basic techniques in the fields of fast transform algorithms and machine learning. Also serving as IUE Vice Rector, Prof. Eren has 2 international patents on engine early warning systems. Prof. Türker İnce conducts studies on the development of new techniques in the fields of pattern recognition and machine learning and their application to different fields. Prof. Türker İnce also has 2 international patents in the field of machine learning applications.
SUCCESS BEYOND BORDERS
The “High accuracy bearing faults detection in electric motors and machines based on machine learning” titled research, co-developed by Prof. Türker İnce and Prof. Levent Eren and IUE Rector Prof. Murat Aşkar, has been published in an international journal in 2016. The study, which is seen as a pioneering application of modern artificial intelligence techniques in this field, is among the most highly cited studies of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics Journal. Prof. Türker İnce previously won the most cited article award in "The IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology" journal in 2019 for a system he developed with two academics from Finland and Qatar to provide early diagnosis of heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias).
WE ARE WORKING ON NEW PROJECTS
Stating that they are proud and happy to be on a list of the most influential scientists, Prof. Levent Eren and Prof. Dr. Türker İnce said, “Recently, the development of technology at a record speed has brought about changes in the field of electrical and electronics. We have set our goal to make a difference by making best of the opportunities provided by our university and by producing rational and innovative solutions in our field. The greatest happiness for a scientist is to see that their work creates value and is appreciated, and to feel that it is useful. There are also new projects we are currently working on. We aim to complete them in a short time.”
