Faculty Member Receives Approval for COST Action on AI and Privacy

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaya OĞUZ, a faculty member of the Department of Computer Engineering at our Faculty of Engineering, is involved in the CA25153 HARPA (Human-centered Approaches to Responsible Privacy for and with AI) COST Action, which has been approved for funding by the COST network.

Focusing on the protection of privacy in an era of rapidly advancing artificial intelligence technologies, the HARPA Action brings together experts from computer science, law, psychology, and related disciplines to develop innovative approaches for safeguarding privacy as a fundamental human right in the age of AI.

HARPA, which stands for Human-centered Approaches to Responsible Privacy for and with AI, aims not only to mitigate privacy risks arising from AI systems but also to leverage AI technologies themselves to develop trustworthy, human-centered privacy solutions. The network seeks to strengthen collaboration among researchers, promote joint research activities, and develop educational resources in the field of privacy and artificial intelligence.

As one of the newly approved COST Actions, HARPA will bring together researchers from different countries, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and contributing significantly to scientific advancements at the intersection of artificial intelligence and privacy.

According to information provided by COST, the Management Committee (MC) nomination system for the Action will be activated on June 12, 2026. National nominations and appointments to the Management Committee will be accepted from that date onward.
