Izmir University of Economics Information Technologies Hackathon Event
Izmir University of Economics IT Hackathon was held on December 21-22, 2024 with the participation of 22 of our students within the scope of the university's "Create in Izmir" EU Project.
The event aims to develop IUE students' skills in producing solutions to real problems using technology, to support a culture of collaboration and innovation, and to contribute to the vision of sustainable digital transformation within IUE.
In the event, IUE students worked on pre-determined case titles and produced innovative projects and solution proposals. In mentoring sessions, they received guidance from experts on case analyses, project development, prototyping, and effective presentation techniques. Participants collaborated in teams to develop digital prototypes and presented their projects to the expert jury.
Deniz Yetiş, Ecem Doğaner, Fatih Anamaslı, and Ali Berat Akoğlu, 3rd-year students of IUE Software Engineering, were deemed worthy of the first place award at the end of the jury evaluation. Our students contributed to sustainable digital transformation with their work titled "Debugger Ducs". They received their awards from IUE Vice Rector Prof. Dr. They took it from Aslı Ceylan Öner.
About the “Create in İzmir Project”
“Create in İzmir: Cultural and Creative Industries Digital Entrepreneurship Hub Project” has been implemented in İzmir within the scope of the Competitive Sectors Program carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey. The project, which started work as of September 2022 and will continue for 30 months, is carried out by İzmir University of Economics in partnership with EGİAD, İzmir Foundation and İZKA.
The project focuses on all creative industries, especially informatics/software, design, cinema/television, which support digital games and digital arts in the Aegean Region covering İzmir, Aydın, Denizli, Afyon, Uşak, Manisa, Kütahya and Muğla. The aim of the project is to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem by developing cooperation between Cultural and Creative Industries, manufacturing industry and tourism sector in order to promote creative and innovative economic development. The goal of the project is to achieve competitive growth in İzmir and its hinterland (Manisa, Aydın, Uşak, Kütahya, Afyon, Muğla, Denizli) and to increase development and make it sustainable.
