IUE First Aerospace Engineering Workshop succesfully completed!

With the aim to increase the popularity of aerospace studies and research among young students, İzmir University of Economics has organized It’s first Aerospace workshop in İzmir during period from 28.03.2019 to 29.03.2019 with two full days of lectures and talks about the recent Technologies developed in Turkish aerospace sector. Experts from Turkey and World have attended this event. Around 100 secondary school students were invited together with students from Izmir University of Economics. A special session is organized for students to present their projects to the public. Prof. Dr. A. Allam from the German University in Cairo has given three talks about the different avionics and actual systems used in aircrafts to avoid air collisions is explained to students, the aircraft landing systems was demonstrated. Information about current situation of National Space Programes was given. Detailed information about current status of TURKSAT 6A satellite Project was explained by the heads of the Project from TUBİTAK Levent Ertürk, by Dr.Alime Yanartaş from ASELSAN and by Dr.Taha Tekik from TAI(Turkish Aerospace Industries). Asst.Prof.Dr. Akın Kutlar from ITU who is a leader in this field has contributed to the event with this talk about Wankel Engines.
The techology of producing materials for avionics applications was the main topic of a talk given by Assoc. Prof.Dr. Vedat Akgün from the Izmir Institute of Technology. Dr. Akgün has summarized the new requirements in this sector and how scientists are trying to fulfill these requirements by producing strong, light, and cheap new materials.
Assoc.Prof.Dr Volkan Pehlivanoğlu from IUE Aerospace Department has talked about aerodynamics and modeling. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murak Akşit has given a lecture about Aero-diesels and Asst. Prof. Dr. Fabrizio Pinto talked about future space missions.
