Turkish youth is marking an era in automotive industry

Izmir University of Economics’ future engineers came in first place at the Automotive Component Design Contest held by Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OIB) with their charging energy, sharing network and transfer equipment developed for electric and autonomous cars, which are the future of automotive industry.
Students Oğuzhan Sarıtaş and Doğu Can Seyidoğlu from Department of Software Engineering, and Kutluhan Hakan and Ercan Oktay Altın from Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), qualified to go overseas for master’s education with scholarship, enter ITU Çekirdek and Bigg Bang, and benefit from OIB’s network with their “Car4Future Technologies” titled project. The team, who also received 70 thousand TL as a monetary award, was selected among the 120 projects nationwide at Android Academy program last year, which was co-held by Entrepreneurship Foundation and Google Turkey. The team qualified to attend entrepreneurship ecosystem trip in San Francisco, and receive continuous mentoring as part of that award.
'Indispensable component for electric cars’
Software engineering student Oğuzhan Sarıtaş, who reported that they carried out their project under the mentorship of Seda Çakmak from IUE Technology Transfer Office, and Neşe Gök, CEO of Inci Holding, stated that electric cars started to become very popular recently. Sarıtaş said, “We focused on software and transfer equipment that brings electric cars and charging stations together. We have been working on this project since 2017. We are working on an equipment that will allow electric and autonomous car owners to find charging stations easily, make energy transfer from one vehicle’s charging unit to others, and make an income this way at the same time. Our project, which involves energy transfer network and hardware developed with block chain technology, will be indispensable for electric and autonomous cars in the near future.”
